SWEET PEA LEE Obituary (2020)

Sweet Pea wasn’t born into my life. She was given to me to take care of when I was 13 years old. She never had so much freedom before, and she quickly took over the house. She became the queen of the castle. She loved cuddling, preferably with me or between a mound of stuffed animals. She was hysterically like E.T. She would blend into stuffed animals and watch us look for her. Even her meow was extraterrestrial sounding. We’d say “Sweet Pea, phone home.” The only time she really meowed in her lively days was when the lights were out, and she wanted to know where I was in the house. She always found me. Sweet Pea should have been certified as a service animal, because that’s what she was. She loved to comfort. Everything I silently went through, my cat knew to comfort me. She knew how to. She set the standard. She could see tears and wipe them away with her little face. She loved so much, and she just wanted love in return. A lap to lay on and snuggle up to. A hand to hold. A pillow to share. She left behind two younger siblings, Simba, and the baby, Nala. They miss their older sister so much. I had Sweet Pea as my unofficial service cat for 18 years of my life. Her spirit and energy is the only comfort I can get from her now, but she was so amazing in our realm. She changed my life and the way I see the world. She’s waiting for me peacefully, with her cat patience. And one day we will be together again. All of us. Until that day comes, me and my family will never stop loving her, missing her, and celebrating all the joy she brought to us all. I have never met another animal like Sweet Pea (aka Ma Petite - a little nickname she liked to be called) I don’t think there will be another animal or cat that comes close to Sweet Pea. She was undeniably an empathetic, loving, extra on the cuddles, comforting kitty. She impacted so many people’s lives with her affectionate personality. Almost too human like, and wise for a house cat. Her last night on earth, she didn’t want to be alone. She spent the entire evening trying her best to show me she’s fighting. She eventually settled on my lap, and passed in her sleep. She passed away in her favorite spot, my lap and arms. We wish her peace, more warm cuddles, and a promise that we will be together soon. I love you so much, Sweet Pea. I hope the sun is shining bright to keep you warm, until my arms are around you again. You fought so hard, it wasn't your fault. You're still a survivor. Rest well, now. We all miss you, Ma Petite My Sweet.
